Top 20 James Bond Themes – 10-6

#10 – “Surrender” – kd Lang (Music by David Arnold), from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

See previous entry.

#9 – “Moonraker (End Titles)” – Shirley Bassey (Music by John Barry, Lyrics by Hal David)

See previous entry.

#8 – “For Your Eyes Only” – Sheena Easton (Music by Bill Conti, Lyrics by Michael Leeson) from For Your Eyes Only (1981)

As yet, the only time the singer of the Bond theme is viewed during the opening credits. Great song for a great movie.

#7 – “We Have All The Time In The World” – Louis Armstrong, (Music by John Barry, Lyrics by Hal David) from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)

An absolutely gorgeous, soft-spoken, slow-moving tune to underscore the burgeoning love story between James Bond and Tracy Draco in this film. Louis Armstrong’s last recording.

#6 – “Diamonds Are Forever” – Shirley Bassey, (Music by John Barry, Lyrics by Don Black) from Diamonds Are Forever (1971)

To mark Sean Connery’s (brief) return to the 007 franchise, the producers enlisted John Barry and Shirley Bassey, the winning combination behind the iconic Goldfinger. Shrewdly opting to not attempt to recreate that song, they went in a new direction, with Bassey taking a much more overtly sexual bent.
